Thinking about buying a Mystic wetsuit? We’ve covered your questions to better equip you for your decision.
The short answer is yes! Mystic wetsuits are made and built to withstand the harshest conditions mother nature can throw at you while you’re partaking in your water sport of choice. The top line suits, such as the Majestic/Jayde or the Voltt/Gem are made from Japanese Yamamoto 39 Neoprene, which is the premier neoprene on the market. It’s lighter and thinner, yet still warmer as it’s more densely packed so less holes (or pores in the material) for water to seep through. The way it's manufactured means it's highly durable, but still extremely flexible, and it's also made from limestone which makes it more environmentally friendly.
The fit of a Mystic wetsuit can feel small when putting the suit on, but once it's on, it fits like a glove. Don’t forget, for a wetsuit to work properly it has to be like a second skin to trap and heat up any water between your skin and the neoprene, and the less water in there the better! If you’re not used to wearing neoprene, then you might decide to size up to allow you to get into the suit more easily while you get accustomed to wearing one.
Anything! Mystic specializes in neoprene for water sports so if it involves water, then you can use it. Their main water sports focus is on kiteboarding, wakeboarding and surfing, but they make premium suits for all year round and whatever the conditions. The top-of-the-line suits are built to withstand the coldest, wildest conditions so that the cold won’t be the reason you have to end your session.
The choice is yours. If you want to stay warm in the water all year round, then these suits are a serious option. Before buying any wetsuit, make sure you know what you want out of a suit. What will be its main use, which sport are you doing, what time of year, water temperatures and locations, and lastly your budget. You don’t want to invest in a hooded 6mm Voltt or Gem when you’re going on a honeymoon in Hawaii.
The best quality suits are those suits that you don’t know you’re even wearing. The ones that feel like a second skin. The ones that don’t force you to cut your kitesurf / wakeboard / surf session short because your suit has failed or you’re cold to the core. Mystic used the Japanese Yamamoto 39 neoprene for their higher-end suits which is the most premium neoprene on the market. It's thinner, lighter and more densely packed so that it really does feel like a second skin.
Mystic do the men’s Voltt and the women's Gem which both come in a hooded 6/4/3mm, and you can’t get much warmer than this! Pair these suits with the 5mm Supreme Gloves and the 5mm Supreme Boots and you will be able to stay out on the water doing what you love.
Dry. Not only psychologically putting on a dry wetsuit is easier, because a wet wetsuit usually equals a cold wetsuit and sliding your foot through the leg of a wet cold wetsuit is not the funnest of things, but it is actually easier to put on a dry wetsuit. A wet wetsuit takes a lot more effort, the wet or dampness of the suit creates more friction against your skin so it's not as easy to slide your foot or hand through. For those lucky and organized few, two wetsuits are necessary to get through a day where you’ll be checking off two sessions.
