Why You Should Buy a Wetsuit

Whether you are going abroad or simply heading to the UK coastline, if you are planning on spending prolonged periods of time in the sea, then investing in a wetsuit is a purchase that you won’t regret.

Why you need a wetsuit

Owning a wetsuit is beneficial for everyone, from amateur to pro. Body heat is lost 20 times more in water than air due to the higher density, encouraging more conduction. So you don’t have to be the world’s biggest water enthusiast to feel the need to keep warm.

Having that layer of neoprene over your body will insulate and protect you from all weather conditions and temperatures. The way in which a wetsuit is designed to function is that it allows water to enter, trapping a thin layer between your skin and the wetsuit, which your body then heats up.

Having a good wetsuit that fits you correctly, can give you the option to spend as much time in the water as you may desire. From personal experience it can get so frustrating when you have to get out of the sea early; not because you are tired or not enjoying yourself but because you are cold and uncomfortable. Investing in a good wetsuit was one of my best equipment purchases.

Once you have invested in a wetsuit there are plenty of water-based activities that it will be useful for. Wetsuits aren’t just for surfers or divers, they are extremely practical and convenient for when you decide to go snorkelling, have a go at wakeboarding for the first time, or dare to go sea swimming and coasteering.

Kids' wetsuits are perfect for family trips to the beach. By putting your child in a wetsuit at the beginning of the beach day, it ensures that they will remain warm throughout. Giving them full reign to spend as much time playing and splashing around in the water as they wish. It will also leave you feeling at rest, knowing that they are fully protected from the sun. A win-win for both of you, giving the whole family a great beach experience!

The best wetsuits for children are shorty wetsuits; wetsuits that have short legs that end just above the knees and short sleeves. These wetsuits are popular as they keep them warm, whilst still allowing them to have room to move and play freely.

If it is too hot for them to be wearing a wetsuit, then why not dress them in a rash vest instead? You can purchase rash vests that are stylish yet will still keep them warm and reduce the amount of sunscreen needed for your child’s sensitive skin.
