Known as the ‘original American surf brand’, Jack O’Neill opened the world’s first surf shop in 1952, where he spent his time shaping boards and selling wax. It wasn’t long before Jack started experimenting with insulated vests to extend surf sessions during the deep depths of winter. It was this thought process that inevitably led to the creation of the neoprene wetsuit – an invention that changed the surf world forever. A lot has changed since Jack’s ground-breaking idea, however, what hasn’t changed is O’Neill’s focus and determination to create the most technical and high-performance wetsuit for surfing. And although Jack is no longer with us, the brand O’Neill lives on as an influential trailblazer.
